Colds and Flu
I have noticed at school that quite a few students have been absent due to illness. Here are some pointers that might help in limiting the days you miss:
1. Wash your hands frequently.
2. Keep your hands away from your eyes and nose.
3. Get plenty of sleep.
4. Get a flu shot if possible.
5. Eat healthy food.
6. Work out.
7. Stay away from people that are sick.
8. Keep sanitizer nearby.

I have been absent from school and have been coughing up a storm. But, the thing about my cold is, I don't know where I got it from because I have not been around sick people (or haven't noticed them at least). Also I have had a flu shot, too. I always eat healthy food, I work out, I get plenty of sleep (8 to 9 hours) and keep sanitizer in my bag every day. So I am at a loss from how I got a cold, Mr. Carey.

well, K; it's possible that you got it from someting that was just floating around in the air, waiting for someone to infect. sometimes i'll get sick even when all the people i've been around are healthy. it's a bummer when you have something to do the next day, like school. you can even get it from pets. you have a cat named Sharpei, right? it's possible you got it from her, because even though you think it's safe to hug and snuggle up to your cat, it's not a good idea because there might be a million little pesky viruses jumping ship from S.S. Cat to S.S. Person. most of the time you can get cold viruses from the back of chairs, doorknobs, bags and anything else that has been touched by you or someone else. if you touch one of those things, don't put your hand up to your mouth or nose, because that's how the pesky things get in you.

well, it's not all fun and games, even though you're thinking "yay! i get to stay home from school today." some diseases that start as simple things might turn into things like the flu or, in the case of the common cold, turn into peneumonia, and sometimes death can occur from that simple virus..
just keep your hands washed, and that hand sanitizer on, and you're safe from most things. i'm not saying don't snuggle up to your cat, but be careful when you do. better safe than sorry, i always say. also, to cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough would be a good idea.

I don't know Grace. I could have got it from any of my three pets I guess. Like you said my cat, Sharpay could have gave it to me. Or my cat, Lucky or my dog, Chance. Also Grace, when I first got my cold I was afraid I may have had something horrible because I was coughing horribly, I got real dizzy, naushoius, and felt extremely hot. But, the thing is I have already had strep throat and peneumonia about a couple years ago for both. Also, I was not excited I was gone from school. Because, I had alot of work I had to catch up on. Which made my regular homework schedule take twice as long. One last thing, I do cover my mouth when I sneeze or cough. Which is the right thing to do so you don't pass the germs to somebody else.

A few days ago my brother accidentaly sneezed on me and he was sick. Well i was sick friday and when i looked on your page i read these tips. Most of the things you have listed, i did and now im feeling alot better. Another thing you could mention could be that people make sure that their house is not full of germs. I had 3 sick people in my family which called me sick. well i will talk to you later

I agree Mr.Carey because those are some of the things you have to do to stay healthy.
I also think some people are just more likely to get sick then other people are.
My mom said that there was a study that showed kids that went to daycare before kindergarten didn't miss as many days from school as kids that didn't go to daycare. As for the flu shot, some people get sick a few days after getting it.My grandpa got sick a few days after his shot, and he wouldn't get another one after that.Last year my brother and I got a flu shot and we both got sick a few days later.I disagree with one of the comments because I hug and kiss my cats and dog all the time and Im almost never sick.
the last one was mine
