Chiefs

I am on my last nerve with the KC Chiefs! They are brutal! I do realize that we are on our third string quaterback and we are young, but come on, it is the NFL! LJ is not performing as he has in the past and I don't see him turning it around. The were some glimpses of the old LJ but not enough to get excited about. Tony G has been playing well but one man does not make a team. I don't know if I am going to be able to watch them play the rest of the season. It is frustrating. KC PICK IT UP AND START PLAYING LIKE AND NFL TEAM!

Sports Fan Update

Let's start with the good news. My White Sox are still clinging to a small lead in the AL Central. Hopefully we can hang on. Some more good news is that my Notre Dame Fighting Irish are now 2-0 with a defeat of the Michigan Wolverines! They really put it to 'um!

Now for the bad...My Chiefs are really stinking it up! We got beat by the Raiders today! That is embarrassing. I don't know how they are deciding who to play at the quarterback position but it almost looks like they are flipping a coin!

I guess two for three isn't bad.

Football

Football is upon us! My son's season starts this weekend. College football started last weekend and the NFL starts tomorrow night. Today was the first day that if felt like football season around here. It was around 65 degrees or so and drizzling around practice time. My son is playing the line. He is in 5th grade and weighs 109 pounds. He is not fat but is built pretty big. He loves football and I think that he really understands the game, but what do I know. My school didn't have football. We were too small. He loves to talk about it and has really been bonding with the team. Quite a few of them have nicknames already. So far I have heard the names "Grizz" and "Mount Mosely"...pretty cool for 5th and 6th graders!

Like they say "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?"

Enough Brett Favre!

Let me start off by saying I am not a Packer fan. Although I have trouble admitting it the last couple of years, I am a Chiefs fan. My dad is a Packer fan and has been all his life. He loves Brett Favre. I do like Favre's heart and will to win but this whole coming out of retirement thing is driving me nuts! I can't even turn on ESPN to get the scores without something about the "old man" coming up! Yes he will be in the Hall of Fame. Yes he was one of the best. Yes he probably still has game left in him. No it is not right to hold Aaron Rodgers back another year. He has done his time and I would bet he has learned more from Favre in the last few years than most quarterbacks do in their entire career. If Brett does want to play then the Packers should release him and let him do his thing. Start a new run with Rodgers! If I was a Packer fan it would be hard to see Brett go but I would not want to see him deteriorate in front of me and go out in a bad way. I would want to remember him the way he was when he was winning and doing all the things that we liked watching Brett Favre do, eluding the rush and using the cannon he has! Out of respect I would like to wish Brett Favre all the best in whatever he does. He deserves the best for what he did for the game of football. (I can't believe I just said that. I hope my dad doesn't read this!)

Great NFL Weekend

It sure is fun to watch leaders at work. Brett Favre leading the Packers into their division championship while playing at the "Frozen Tundra", and Tom Brady continuing the Patriots perfect season, are just two reasons why watching football this weekend has been exciting. Currently I am watching the Colts vs. the Chargers. Again, another quarterback, Payton Manning, controlling the tempo of the game and being a true leader. If you think about it, three out of the four quaterbacks that were, or are, playing this weekend, are definite Hall-Of-Famers! To me, that is amazing! The Packers game was especially fun to watch because of the snow they were receiving at Lambeau Field. AT times it was snowing extremely hard. I commented to my kids that "wouldn't it be fun to play football in that snow?". Of course my daughter didn't agree with me. I thought the two games last night were good games and well played. The Packers and Seahawks set a record for most points in a first quarter. Check the scores here.

Ricky Williams

Ricky Williams has been reinstated by the NFL after an 18-month suspension. The Dolphins get him back. Is it a good or bad thing that the Dolphins are getting him back? I don't think it can hurt the Dolphins, as far as having man-power, they are O-fer! On the other hand, would you want somebody back on your team that has violated the drug policy four times? The first time he could play a game would be November 26th, against Pittsburgh. I am all for giving a guy a chance, but four violations, and the coach is supposed to depend on this kind of individual? Why would you want this guy back. He's a running back, 30 years old (on the down hill slide of his career), a drug violation problem, has played 12 games since the 2004 season, and he will most likely affect the locker room in some way.

I think the Dolphins need to rethink this situation!

Grossman on the Bench...It's about time!

The report is that Rex Grossman will not be starting the Bears next game when they play Detroit. I am not even a Bear's fan and I want them to change quarterbacks! He is disgraceful! He has a 45.2 quarterback rating, has thrown 6 interceptions this year already, and has only thrown one TD pass. Griese can't do any worse! I would be a little more understanding if he was terrible all the time but he has times when he looks really good but other times he makes some of the worse decisions I have ever seen a quarterback make.

What scares me more than anything is that the Bears are bound to get a good quarterback sometime and with that defense they will be tough to beat. I mean, they made it to the Superbowl with Rex at the helm!

AS I SAID BEFORE, GIVE GRIESE (OR EVEN ORTON) A CHANCE! THEY CAN'T POSSIBLY BE ANY WORSE!

Everett - Another Positive Sports Story

Kevin Everett was severely injured in a football game on Sunday. He received the injury while making a tackle on a Denver Bronco. The injury was classified as a "life-threatening spinal-cord injury". An orthopedic surgeon said that a full recovery would be the best case scenario but it was not likely.

Ok, so you are asking "What is so positive about this story?". Well, on Tuesday Everett voluntarily moved his arms and legs! This was two days after this horrific accident and the grim prognosis! The doctors are pretty sure he will walk again. This should prove to anybody what human will can accomplish. My thoughts and prayers go out to Kevin and his family. Good luck Kevin and may you walk again!

Understatement of the Year!

I don't care what anybody says! Michael Vick is a joke! He apologized to the Atlanta Falcons and the NFL for "using bad judgment and making bad decisions". He didn't run a red light! He is directly (or indirectly) responsible for the death of 53 innocent dogs. He said he did not personally place any bets or share in any winnings. Are you kidding me? How are we supposed to believe that? He is definitely trying to cover up the gambling part due to the NFL rule which says that if a player is even associated with gamblers he would be subject to a lifetime ban. The article also said he has "found religion". He is pulling out all the stops to try to save his career and his image. It is not working for me! People like this need to be punished, no matter who they are. Punishment in my mind is not being suspended, and...boo-hoo...not being able continue his job after "one" mistake. I sure hope the Falcons get their signing bonus ($22 million).

What is your opinion on this?
