A Choppy November

Our November here at school is a chopped up mess. Next week we are here two days and some change. We have parent/teacher conferences next week. The following week we get out of school on Tuesday for Veteran's Day...seriously, a Tuesday, Wednesday I will be attending a Solar Workshop in Springfield, IL., and Friday I have a 1/2 day meeting at school. The following week I am helping a colleague present at a Technology conference on Thursday and Friday in Springfield, IL. and during the last week in November we will, of course, be enjoying Thanksgiving Break. What a month! It happens and it one of the things as a teacher you must get used to. My lesson plan book, if I didn't have a student teacher, would look like hieroglyphics. Everyone have a great November!

Football Almost Over

My son's football season is almost over. He has really stepped it up concerning taking on more responsibility as far as getting homework done and having all his football gear ready. It will be sad when the season is over. He has worked hard and really enjoyed himself. I have enjoyed watching him and learning with him. He has four practices left and one game. The weather is just now starting to behave like football weather and watching football while there is a chill in the air and leaves are falling is special.

Next question...when does his basketball season start?

New Album

I just picked up the new ACDC album, Black Ice. I can't wait to listen to it. I will give my full review in a couple days. Until then...rock out!

Countdown to Smartboard

Two days and counting. The Smartboard that will adorn my room will be installed on Wednesday! I can't wait. I have many lessons already done and ready to go and I am lucky enough to be subscribed to a wonderful site headed up by James Hollis. He seems to be quite the Guru! He has already taken time out of his busy schedule to help me out with a couple of questions regarding the Smartboard. The resources for the Smartboard seem to be endless. I guess the only setback on finding resources is time. I am excited and ready to start a new page in my teaching career.

Miracle Needed

Cub and Sox in the Series? Only if a miracle happens. The Cubs are choking big time and the Sox aren't playing up to their capabilities and, in my opinion, are playing a better overall team. I guess we can all still wish. As they say, "It's not over until the fat lady sings."

Beautiful Day for Football!

The Fighting Irish play today, my son has practice, and my family is coming for the weekend to watch my son's game tomorrow. 73 and sunny today...awesome! I will blog ya' from the game with a pic. These kind of weekends are what I live for. Running around with my family in some nice weather is about as simple as it gets but some how it reminds me what is important in life. Enjoy your weekend!
